Working with spoken word hip-hop artist Ely Witz Gold was not only a pleasure but also an incredibly rewarding production experience. We transformed her tiny Plateau living room apartment into a makeshift studio, with two full-size key lights and softboxes, two RGB grid lights, and all kinds of spontaneous props!.
It was such an endearing experience rearranging her child-toy strewn living room into a fresh hip-hop den setting. We improvised with an old armchair, African-inspired sheets, and even dragged out a zebra print rug from under an old couch!. The result? Some of the most unique and creative portrait shots I’ve ever produced, capturing Ely’s magic under bright and colorful lights that still resonate to this day.
